Dr Fonya, you were and will forever  remain a true friend, brother and a mentor. From our childhood, you always took and looked  up to me  as a senior, brother and friend from catholic Primary School Fonge, to your  days in GSS Fontem, while I was in Our Lady Seat of Wisdom college.Fontem, to check on me and to give me any information your Godfather being my father sent through you from your weekend at Fonge.
        Our journey continued to Germany where three days after my arrival in Bonn,  you called and paid my train ticket to come down to Erlangen were you were studying to spend my first weekend in  Germany with you; and guess what? that was the first time in my life to see snow and to experience winter in Europe
        As if God has really put it his way, you left Germany first for the USA to further your education, a few years later God equally reunited us and since then, we have had an indelible, remarkable and cheerful  relationship that only the almighty father knows why it has been that way and will forever continue and be honored. You taught me  a lot in life, especially in the academic domain ; the most recent of which was my graduation last December 19th, 2011, not to talk of development and cultural values based on straight forwardness, honesty, open mindedness, selflessness,transparency and accountability; and this was and has been  manifested  in  our leadership which helped to transformed LECUDO Washington DC metro Area chapter to the legacy that chapter has today.
 Dr Fonya, brother, friend, you were a wonderful loving husband, father, son, brother friend etc and  will always be. What is life all about? we can not question God. It is said that man proposes but God disposes;;;  He Knows why and beyond our imagination. Rest in Peace, till when we shall be together again.

Voisin ‘neighbor’, Uncle Fonya, Christ defeated death by dying on the cross for us. Your departure from us is but physical, and not spiritual. As lon-time neighbors, I have known you to be a devout Christian. Please, do pray for us where you are so that we can be faithful, perseverance, patience and hopeful as you have always been so that in due season we shall all unite with you and the heavenly host.

Tributes to Dr. Fonya

“If tears could build a stairway, and memories were a lane
I would walk right up to heaven and bring you home again,
No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye.
You were gone before we knew it, and only GOD knows why.
My heart still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow
What it means to loose you no one will ever know.
You will always be remembered.

I am sorry that you were cut in your prime
There can be no other explanation, other than it was simply your time.
Everything happens for a reason, even though it is not clear
But your spirit is with us, you will always be near.

You know I will always love you and treasure the memories we hold,
And I will tell my children, a story that must told. A story of a love so strong,
that you was the big brother that God chose, and the day you died
an ANGEL woke and rose".

A heart of gold stopped beating, two twinkling eyes closed to rest.
Our eyes filled up with tears as we heard the news. It never occurred to us, we could lose you this early. We find ourselves wishing that it wasn't real. Every time we think about it, pain is all we can feel. Tears fall from our eyes, we can barely see. But our hearts tell us that you'll always be with us, although you are away physically.
You fought with your heart and every weapon you had, you fought for your wife, kids, family and friends but God broke our hearts by taking one of the best but who are we to ask WHY? He had a reason for His choice.

Gone...but where?
We can't call you on the phone. We can't send you a text. No matter how loud we scream you can’t respond. How funny you were, how generous you were, how there was nothing that could stop you from giving a helping hand. You meant so much to all of us; you were special and that's no lie. Each passing day, we remember you and what you used to say. You made each of us smile and live to the fullest each day.
 
Where are you Uncle Fonya?

A thousand times we needed you. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. Although unheard we thank you, for always being there, you always seemed to care no matter the situation.

They say in time it gets easier. We believe this isn’t going to be true, because even after all this time, we still didn’t have a clue, that at this point in time we would be saying goodbye. We were not ready to say goodbye.

We sit around and wonder. We look at all the pictures, and ask, why did you have to die?
You've always been there for us. We’ve lost two True friends and brothers, First Egbert Wanatu and just barely six months You, Uncle Fonya. How devastating can that be?

This is hardly a goodbye, so I won't weep anymore, because now you're in better place than you ever were before.
